Why don't you try it? :s

For me, I had sunburn like a thousand times but my skin did not tan, simply becuse I am fairly-skinned.

I can assure you that you skin will get a lot of UV damage, When you are older, the sunburnt areas really will look a different colour to your unburned skin.

okay what happens if somehow it never peals off and it is also true that it causes ur skin to be wrinkly when older

yeah i saw this program, body hits on techtv. they had one on uv light. these two girls went 'tanning' every day. later they looked at them under a special uv light, and it turns out that when they are older, their skin will look about 10 years older than their actual age

I am in the medical field and can give you my professional opinion. UV from the sun causes damage to your skin, thus you get a sunburn.

Your skin reacts to UV damage by trying to protect itself. Melanocytes in your skin produce a pigment which colors your skin in an effort to block or reflect some of the damaging UV.

What I want you to understand is that NO, sunburns do not cause a tan... but the same UV that causes sunburns will also cause a tan.

You need to be very careful as skin cancer is so common and so easy to get. It could take years in the sun, but it could also only take days. IMO it is not worth the risk.

Use your head.

I usually seem to tan after getting burned.. but getting sunburned is not a very good way of getting a tan..

There are all sorts of long term implications of damaging your skin in this way.. best building your tan up slowly!!

Some people don't have pigment in parts of their skin, thus the white spots. I knew a girl in grade school and high shcool that had that problem, although it was much more pronounced. I'm naturally dark skinned (although, I can't figure out why) and I can tan just by being outside all day. I don't go to a tanning bed, but when I do go outside, it's just natural.

I have to "sunburn" in order to tan....and it takes multiple times...and i have to be in the sun for 2-3 hours at a time...
