Major security bug found in Unreal Engine

Recommended Posts

SECURITY FIRM Secunia reports that a highly critical vulnerability, first reported by Luigi Auriemma, exists in the Unreal Engine.

It can be used by malicious outsiders to compromise vulnerable systems, said Secunia.

The problem is because of a boundary error when processing secure queries, which can then be exploited to cause buffer overflow.

The firms says that the following games, and others, are possibly affected: Unreal Tournament (various versions), Postal 2, Rune (107 and prior builds), TNN Pro Hunter, Deus Ex (some versions) and others.

Secunia says the problem has been fixed in Unreal Tournament 2004 build 3236 and above.
