TrunksGoku
Are those both 40gb or is one a 4G 20gb and the other is the 3G 40gb? looks like a 20g 4th gen and a 40g 3rd gen side by side
Bearded Kirklander
Bummer that it does not include a Dock, but it does come with the USB and FireWire cables. Sounds like a pretty nice package, what with the new battery life. Lacks a user replaceable battery though, and that is a bummer. $100+ to get the battery replaced is a ton of cash for a $300 device. robniep
I don't like. I'd stick with a G3. Some things on the new one just make me say yuck.

mercuryx013
I like it! It is almost as small as the mini! Maybe it's time to break down and buy one.

Out of curiosity, what things make you say yuck about the 4th Gen iPods? I have read and heard that the mini's are not nearly as durable as the full-on iPod, but other than that and the battery expense, I have not heard too many bad things. But I'm not that knowledgeable about them really, so wanted to ask. Thanks, BK

FriedApple
I'm too picky. Am I the only one that doesn't like the grey scrollwheel? Yeah, what the hell is wrong with you :D  ;) Just kidding :) I like it, but I wish they made it look MORE like brushed stainless steel. hoyablue
Perhaps in the Rev. B model of the iPod Mini there will be a firmware upgrade. I'm going for the iPod mini; its size is very appealing.

hoyablue
^ When's Rev. B? I don't have the faintest idea. However, I surmise that the "macrumors.com Buyer's Guide" would give you historical facts of the iPod Mini, rendering you capable of making a prediction. ipodcases.biz
Overall I like the look and the style of the new G4 iPods. I will certainly consider an upgrade! Very soon in fact.

I will keep my G3 one and wait until Apple releases another ver. that comes w/ backlights on the buttons again. IMO this is a step backwards. evo0o
I currently use a Creative MP3 player.. thinking of making the change to iPod... I was just wondering, if I use Windows XP and I don't have a FireWire port or the iPod dock. What are the options I can take to charge the iPod? Only by the AC adapter(plug in mains) and USB 2.0? Will I need to purchase any extra accessories?
adam.sproul
Stick with my 3G, don't like the new interface. Also can't you get a firware update so the 3G has the same menu interface as the 4G ????
deepfriedmario
At the moment, now I'm not sure if I'm too sure about if are that real great. To me, they look really plastic-y especially the scroll and buttons as they are now not touch buttons. If I do buy one, I hope I don't regret it. It looks ultra thin compared to the third generation. And in my opinion, I thought the third generation was pretty thing already. It sucks how the play options don't have backlit though. Most of the features you named seem to be only minor updates, only real reason I would want a fourth generation is the twelve hour lifespan which really interests me. jmc777
It looks ultra thin compared to the third generation. As far as I know there's only a 1mm difference between the thickness of the 20GB 3G and the 4G iPod. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
