Tim Dorr Veteran Posted March 23, 2002 Veteran Share Posted March 23, 2002 Use GameSpt Tunnel and GameSpy Arcade for the easiest method... You'll need a good connection and a lan setup (basically a place to plug the thing in and a DHCP server) http://www.gamespyarcade.com/support/tunnel_xbox.shtml
velocity3k
Hey, i have a cable modem with 512kb connection with and average 15 upload and 50 download rate. Will i be able to play online???.
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted March 23, 2002 Veteran Share Posted March 23, 2002 It all depends on your ping. No harm in setting this up, so it's all up to your own experimentation.

chrismage
I have succesfully done it. Here is my setup: an athlon 900 running windows XP (this is where i run the tunnel) a really haggard linux router 8-port linksys switch Xbox Cable modem Everything works fine, although i did have to forward the proper Ports to my main box to get it to work right.. Lag can be a problem sometimes. It can add matrix-like effects to halo :)

I don't know where the Xbox gets its IP from, but it works fine for me.
velocity3k
I got it working as well and didn't even need a hub. All you need is two different network cards (Of this i mean different make because the gamespy tunnel software has a bug which doesn't recognise both cards if they are the same make and model.). One that connects to the internet and the other to your Xbox, make sure the cable that connects to your Xbox is a CAT 5 crossover cable and not the normal patch cable. The start up your system and then the xbox use the software and you are off.
