SP2 better work on pirated XP cause I will not go and buy a new one just because the master cd didn't come with my PC.

Well at least I have a legit Home Edition key, only problem is that I use Pro

How different is that from an OS? If you crack an OS, how is MS going to get paid for a legitimate copy that you could have bought?

That's assuming you were going to buy a legit copy in the first place..

The title shows it. What will happen?

1) Lock up your computer

2) Just dont install, but you can still use your computer

Don't be a dumba$$, go to a computer show and buy XP. It's a little overpriced at $130, but not enough to fly the pirate flag and sell your soul.

Agreed. XP is now only $80-$90 in most US Stores (Compared to $100)...Go buy it and suck it up, its not that expensive, especially seeing that most people use there computers daily...Your paying them to use the product they developed for you daily...perfectly fine for me, in fact, if you think about it like that, Windows XP is cheap. Pirating is the same thing as stealing from a store in my opinion. :|, Just my 2 cents.

In the UK it's more expensive, tho I'll admit it's gettin cheaper. The main point tho is... I'm poor.

My whole idea is this... if you can't afford it, then you don't need it... plain and simple. Kazaa and other P2P software should be banned!!!

Dude, jus because some ppl can't afford a home don't mean they don't need one.

I realise that's goin abit further than an OS for me, but still, I'm not against payin up for things, but i can't get everythin i need on a budget.

If you can't afford a house you rent it. You don't get anything in life for free.

I agree with a budget. If you make X amount of dollars and you have bills to pay, it is called priorities. You don't go out and buy a new computer, or the latest and greatest version of Photoshop and go without food.

If you download from Kazaa or other P2P you are nothing more than a thief!

So if I rob a bank and I only steal $1000, but my friend steals $10,000, I am a better person because I stole less.... great thinking.... ;)

So you are justifying pirating Windows because you own a version of XP Home and you don't want to pay for XP Pro? If you own an XP Home key then you can get a copy of the disk on a P2P network and use it legally with your key. You are just trying to ease your conscience when you know you are wrong.

I suppose next it will be okay to pirate Office 2003 Professional if you own MS Works? Heck, I think I have some old DOS disks lying around somewhere... that should entitle me to use XP and Longhorn when it's out, right? Don't even try and justify it - you are a pirate and you shouldn't be broadcasting it here.

GOD this thread is ALL over the place...

haha.. the sp2 madness. Doom3 came by and went through. Let's wait for HL2 madness to appear.

Anyway, if MS didn't allow pirated copies to install SP2, there's a keygen with valid keys floating around p2p networks. Look at it this way, MS get praises for making security a forte by being noble and avoid humiliation from keygens that was able to crack Sp2.

theyarecomingforyou > jusification is good, eases the soul of us nasty pirates

I never made a stance on piracy saying it was right or wrong... I merely pointed out that there is no point trying to justify it to yourself.

If you pirate, fine, but don't try and kid yourself it's okay.
