IE download issue, Unknown Time remaining?

Goodafternoon everyone,

*please note, do note direct me to use Firefox. Im perfectly comfortable to use IE*

Ive been having problems with my IE not being able to work out my estimated time left on all my downloads. You may say it could be the servers or something but it happens all the time with all my downloads *see image for what i mean*. Is this a problem on my side or cant i do anything about it? I was just curious because its rather annoying really not being able to see how long i have to wait for. All i can do is count how many MB's is to go. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

I had the same problem, just i just went and downloaded "Download Accelator", also makes your downloads alittle faster, and fix's this problem aswell. Hope it Help's!

i have this problem sometimes with IE too, i think its downloading file information from the server so it can show you it, sometimes it can get stuck tho :/

it doesnt happen with download accelerator because that downloads the file information before it starts the actual download

but it happens with every file i download though which is a concern. I used to have the odd couple which would do this but now it doesnt even try to retreave how long is left. Strange :huh:

I dont really wanna use 3rd Party software to download like DAP but thank you for the idea Deansweb2004, ill use it if there is no other source of the problem

umm, their is a few websites that doesnt, show me the Download time, etc. But most of them do work for me tho.

Try and download alittle file from Microsoft's Servers, and see if that works!

To target the problem, it is either to do with your connection (IE uses connection speed, transfer rate and file size to estimate download time remaining) or with the software itself.

Try restoring the defaults (Internet Options -> Advanced, click on Restore Defaults), that might fix it. And also try turning off third party extensions/plugins as that probley has something to do with it.
