Scroll with touchpad?

Recommended Posts

I have an Inspiron 8600 and I was wondering if there was any way in which I could somehow allow the touchpad to also let me scroll webpages. I know some laptops have this built in and my friend was telling me that the 8600 came with the ability to do that, but I reformatted with my own XP Home SP2, so it is not there. Is there some way to get that program to allow me to do this from Dell or are there any other programs that allow this?

either press both buttons down (like pressing the middle mouse button)

or if you find the correct drivers the touchpad has the option to "use scroll function" under gestures

In the same vein, is there some sort of software that will allow me to gain use of my media buttons? I have a play/pause, stop, previous track, and next track button, but I have not been able to get them to work.

Hp models come with a side scroll pad... but for the most part that is so annoying when typing I suggest getting a mouse for your laptop. www.pcclub.com

me personally laptops = :x

I believe they should work by default with Windows Media Player and with Winamp, but just in case, try downloading QuickSet from Dell's support website.

I've got the scroll area on my touchpad, it's great. It doesn't work unless you take your finger, place it on the scroll, and use it, so there's no chacne of you randomly scrolling.
