I'll i've got to say is that they need a new engine...if they release one more game with that old engine, I'm not sure it's going to go over so well. I find it hard to believe The 3 Prime Evils are dead and Blizzard is known for GOOD stories I dont believe they will bring back Diablo a 3rd time. ooo Posted May 5, 2002 Share Posted May 5, 2002 Well, a while back it was reported that after WCIII is out wow will go into full speed and in backstage they will be working on StarCraft II. As for the storyline of Diablo II, well the left the story open in the Expansion when Tirial opend the portal for all evil.... so I'm counting on a new game. Anyway I don't think they will be working on new titles other then the three Warcraft Starcrafy and Diablo while they sell so well. why fix something that isn't broken ? as for the Engine... well it's not the same one as in Diablo I but yeah they should changed it and I believe they will cause compatition is getting better and better. The Burning Rom Posted May 5, 2002 Share Posted May 5, 2002 I know it wasn't the exact same engine as the first Diablo, they upgraded it for Diablo 2. But even then, it should've been better than it was. It wasn't truly 3d. Even the engine that the fallout games used looked better. The engine that FOT used was even better. And they're going to a differnet engine yet for Fallout 3. I just commented on the engine because when Diablo 2 was released, the engine wasn't exactly cutting edge like the engine for the recently released Dungeon Siege. If Blizzard releases a Diablo 3 I'm pretty sure a lot of people will purchase the game (myself included). This is from an interview by one of the developers, no the game is not being in development but WC II is going to be soon. as for DIII no info yet. GameMeca: Story of Diablo2 and Starcraft has not ended and infers that Diablo3 or Starcraft2 will come out later. Is this true? Bill Roper: Of course. However, we currently are exteremly busy on developing Warcraft3 and WOW. We are planning to develop Starcraft2 after WOW. All the details are unknown for now and we will announce as soon as we have the firmness plan. Laughing-Man Posted May 6, 2002 Share Posted May 6, 2002 I am sure they will come up with a Diablo 3. A lot of new sequels to games are coming up with stories out of nowhere. You saw how Half-Life made expansions based on different people that Gordan Freedman encountered in the game. I am sure they are creative enough to find some far fetched aspect of Diablo that has not been covered yet. For example they could pull a "star-wars" and do a prequel before the first Diablo occured. For example, Diablo2 is still a great game because even though people come out with hacks/dupes for it, blizz will always patch the problems within a couple days. Osiris Posted May 12, 2002 Share Posted May 12, 2002 Well they could always build the story up from the Lesser Evils, there was 6 of them, I dont recall killing all six of them Or theyd just make it that a new "Evil has Arisen" Either way should be good but a new engine wouldnt go astray, nothing too new just a bit more advanced better graphics and what not, sharper if anything. And SC2 that would be great, I liked that game alot, especially the Protos, them and their sheilds rocked. And the Zerg were fun for a while too, the humans well what can ya say same old. Also I hope blizzard did sell the sotry line, I think some games would make great movies. Maybe out the wazoo ;) Personally I have bought many Blizzard games and not cared for a damn one. StarCraft sucked IMHO, but now I know you are all going to flame me for saying that. There was nothing new in that game and it bored the hell out of me. Most of the clones for StarCraft were more fun! I will still buy StarCraft II if it comes out, though.
