Kieran
Ive just reformatted after upgrading and everything runs great except in Unreal Tournament, if I try and change the resolution the game hangs. This is annoying as my PC is capable of MUCH higher resolutions than the standard. I am using official 28.32 (the latest release) drivers from nvidia. Does anyone else have this problem and any fixes? Thanks Kieran

Kieran
ok, could i ask what video drivers you are using? I have a feeling its these drivers and I have a cunning plan.. I rollback my driver to the standard winXP driver (which it has worked with in the past), change the resolution, then upgrade the driver again.. Idealy though I would prefer a fix rather than this though... thanks Kieran
Laughing-Man
The exact thing happened to me too. I think the only way I got it to work was to use the original Nvida drivers that came with XP or else I reformatted my computer and it worke the next time I installed it. I read on UT forums there is an infinite loop problem with UT and XP and they should seriously make a fix for it, but for now it is up to luck for it to work. Kieran
It happens in both! Anyway Im not that bothered as I wont be playing it that much anyway as my 56K modem makes it unplayable online and its too easy in single player! So when I do play it, Ill just put up with it in a crappy res at the moment I think. Thanks anyway for your replies Kieran

fenixDG
Running XP with a GF3 over here. ASUS 8200. The 23.12 drivers worked perfectly for me with UT. D3D was a little slow, but it always was in UT for me. Occasionally it would hang when changing res, but not everytime. ermm: OpenGL ran like a dream however. Changing resolution, switching between fullscreen/windowed. I was using the S3TC patch, although I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not. The 23.12 have a problem of not being able to run DOS games full screen without rebooting the machine. And they caused the infinite loop error on my machine (all 22.xx and above do for me :( ). NVMax fixed the infinite loop problem, and if you don't play DOS stuff in XP I'd recommend giving them a try.
Kieran
ok i just tried open gl and it works :) many thanks all. One thing though - even on max brightness in the game, it is very dark on open gl mode - a lot darker than on direct 3d - any1 else notice this? and is there an easy way of making it brighter? Laughing-Man
Change the gamma on your monitor. Also one player with godlike bots is very hard, I don't know how you can say it is easy.
