Kenny_Dee
System is XP Pro+SP2. As part of the basic tweaking I do with every new XP installation, I disabled some services. I disabled Logical Disk Manager and Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service. I found out that I couldn't enter Computer Management -> Disk Management that way, so I put them back on automatic. Now they Run, but I still can't enter it, I first get an error window says "The RPC server is unavailable", and "Unable to connect to Logical Disk Manager Service" on the Computer Management window status bar, as seen here: How can it be fixed? This is kinda important to me due to a hard-drive problem I published here earlier. Thanks in advance.

Kenny_Dee
Never disabled it, and I don't think it can be done anyway :) I also enabled the RPC locator.. just in case. Problem remains.

+primortal Subscriber² Posted January 4, 2005 Subscriber² Share Posted January 4, 2005 first "Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service" should be set to manual, not automatic. check the event viewer and see if there is any other error messages

Kenny_Dee
In addition, I installed now paint.net, and when I run it it says the "RPC server is unavailable", so this might help... the errors are the same. John Veteran Posted January 4, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 4, 2005 It looks like some COM component isn't registered correctly, but it's hard to say which one. After some initial searching, I've found several references to WMI. Is the Windows Management Instrumentation service running on your machine? If not, set it to automatic and start it. Kenny_Dee
Ye, it's running, auto and started. the wmi driver extensions is manual, Thanks for your help..
