XBOX, PS2 AND GC WAR IN EUROPE AND UKAnd they're neck and neck, and PS2 is sliding back due to an impressive GameCube performance, and Xbox is catching up! 16:53 Brand, spanking new sales figures for consoles in the UK today show that dropping the price of your hardware is indeed the way forward for bigger sales. GameCube shifted approximately 23,000 machines last week, backing up an impressive 75,000 first seven days. Further, Nintendo confirmed today that 400,000 GameCubes have now been sold in Europe. Feel the power of the price cut. The British battleground is still showing heated combat, with PlayStation 2 only leading Xbox slightly with sales of 12,300 and 9,600 respectively. Hoof. Looks as though it's PS2 getting it in the neck from GameCube's success as Xbox's fortunes start to look more rosy.
