It is an international office suite that will run on all major platforms and provide access to all functionality and data through open-component based APIs and an XML-based file format. Note: Snapshot builds showing the progress on our way towards OpenOffice.org 2.0 will be released every two weeks. These snapshot builds need testing and your feedback. Matt: My biggest complaint is also the startup speed. Even if the quicklauncher is enabled, it takes much longer to start up than Microsoft Office 2003. However, once you have opened it once, the quicklauncher keeps much of the data in memory, and it will launch of lightning fast from then on (or, until you restart your PC!) They need to improve the speed more, but hey, consider what you are getting for free ... it realy is amazing. lnmnky Posted February 18, 2005 Share Posted February 18, 2005 (Y) Yey. Will upgrade my main box with v 2. I only use Open office once every 6 months or so at home. I have v little need for office work, so I don't mind the slow start up (which to be honest isn't slow at all) If I was running a business, or used it more than once a week at home, I would get Office 2003.
