Do you want your computer to be more reliable and more stable? Do you want improved security and less vulnerability to attacks by virus' etc.

If the answer to these questions is yes, then you perhaps should upgrade. I'm not sure of any cons... Some people have had some difficulties, but not many. And these are usually due to inexperience and can be easily resolved.

For what its worth, that's my advice anyway.

I was curious about all this Windows XP SP-1 Corp. Edition stuff so i tried it out myself, here are my results...

I got a real MSDN Windows XP VLE CD and created an intergrated SP-1 CD. I then generated about 300 Windows XP VLE (Corp.) serials using the "BlueList" key generator.

I started the Windows XP VLE SP-1 setup from the CD within Windows 2000 and went through until i got to the serial entry screen, i then entered a serial to see if it would work. Some did and some didn't, out of all the 300 i had generated 121 worked. I remember testing the keygen when it first came out and not every serial it generated would install Windows XP VLE so I am not surprised that they all didn't work. I do not have the exact number of keys tried and which worked for Windows XP VLE sorry, only the test i just did on SP-1. (does anyone else?)

I then installed Windows XP VLE SP-1 on a spare system i had and it installed fine, it is VLE so it activates on install however running OOBE.EXE said i was active just to make sure ;)

I then updated from Windows Update without any problems.

So my findings are that the "BlueList" keygen DOES STILL WORK. I did not try with the "Devils0wn" version however i guess that will work also. Don't think that ALL serials will work, if you try just one serial and it doesn't work, try another, like i said i have 121 working serial's here!

I would just like to say that I did this for EDUCATIONAL purposes, i have since reformatted the system and install using my legal Windows XP VLE serial.

I just thought i would share my news with you.

Does anyone else have anything to add?

Cheers all

Thanks for your input. But I can't think that there would be that much more to say about this... Most folks wanting to know what problems they could encounter need only read back through the thread. I think pretty much everything should be covered there.

The only comment I can make is to concur that all of the fuss about October the 2nd, when illegal copies of Windows XP were supposed to have been banned from accessing windows update seems to have been complete nonsense... Nothing has come of it, either for me, or for anyone else I know. Having said that, maybe windows update V5 will change that when it comes out next year, but so far this seems to have been a big scare about nothing.

This topic is kind of old now... But if anyone does still have problems or questions I'm sure someone here will be able to help.

Regards,

Q

I think the whole "Microsoft will ban all illegal users on October 2nd" was just more BS. There is no way Microsoft could check every version of Windows XP that uses Windows Update to see if the serial is a valid one. Yes it could check if it was say a certain serial in there invalid database, infact they probably will do this at some point, but they would never be able to check the serial, then check that serial with a database to see if it is legit. There is just too much work to do there. Also just imagine if it was wrong! You would get so many complaints from home users let alone system administrators in large companies!

Hi there,

recently i compressed my c:\ drive which is my primary boot partition. After some days my XP no more recognises the UDMA as the IDEHDD mode rather it detects it as PIO mode IDEHDD. Is it because of the compression that the XP is not able to detect the UDMA mode. All other settings are same as before.

No spamming. Spamming is characterized by the initiation of threads or posts that contribute nothing to a forum, be it off topic or on topic. Examples include: empty bodies, bodies with few words that have no relation to the current thread or discussion and those posts that state they are spam, either to annoy, advertise or increase a member's post count. Resurrecting old forum posts is also not appreciated unless it serves a worthy cause to the forum. This determination is made by the forum Moderator or Administrator and is not up for discussion.
