GaMeDtX
So I 1st looked at plasmas, didnt like the burn in fact + so $$$, so LCD time. I'm a student, who will eventually work part time within the next 1-3 months and I need a new tv. I was looking at a cheap lcd and I found DELL( http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/p...en&s=dhs&~ck=mn ), i found this like 3 weeks ago and it was $1509 + free shipping. Its now back to 2099. I don't really care about having the sharpest picture, best blacks, I just want to play xbox + watch satellite on a 30" widescreen :) basically just a good decent budget flatscreen, not too crappy but within $1500-$1900. Any comments, reviews or suggestions on this DELL or any other good deals on LCD's around 30"?
bangbang023 Veteran Posted May 5, 2005 Veteran Share Posted May 5, 2005 Samsung LNR328W. It's a simply beautiful set. Best Buy sells it for $2200, but I'm sure you can find it for less elsewhere. I've seen it online for as little as $1700.
Martog
I'm actually looking to do the same thing. I currently have a Dell 17" LCD TV I use as a second monitor and I have my Xbox plugged into it. I was looking at the Dell 30", as I thought the quality on the Dell was pretty good. I see Dell likes to run the 30" down to $1400 which is a nice price for a 30" LCD, but would something like the Samsung be that much better? I am going to be replacing a 27" Sony WEGA standard TV, as I want to get rid of the heavy thing, as in about a year I'll be graduating and probably thinking of moving away, and a 27" TV that weighs a ton is not what I want to take with me. I was also looking at the Dell 26", but anythin around the 26" to 30" that is HDTV and widescreen at a good price and good picture is what I want. EDIT: I might get the Samsung LN-R268W 26" Widescreen LCD TV, that looks like it would be the perfect match for what I want. metro
I believe that Dell uses both Samsung and LG panels for their widescreen and HDTV LCD panels... So go for what ever is cheaper but try to find out what panels are used for what and shop wisely since this is a lot of money we are talkin about :)

Martog
The pannels could be made by the same company, but doesn't mean they are the same. The specs on the Samsung clearly are much better over the Dell as far as response time and contrast go, and I would rather have those than having a DVI input, as only PC going to be hooked into the LCD TV is a Media Center PC, and VGA is fine. I wish Samsung offered the older LCD's still, same specs basically, but they are all black, not two-tone like the newer ones.

Martog
I'm not going to buy one right now, but in a month or two I am planning on purchasing an LCD TV around the 26" range, so I'll see what Dell and BenQ have to offer around then compared to the Samsung. I'm gonna want something before November hits with the Xbox 360. :)
