unimatrixzer0
Just wonder what port or ports Xbox Live! uses. I'd like to block those. Is it really necessary for the three ports mentioned in Troubleshooting (UDP 88, UDP 3074, and TCP 3074) to be opened for Xbox Live to work properly? Most cable/DSL routers implement Network Address Translation (NAT), as does Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). For NAT devices, no port forwarding is required for Xbox Live to work. Port forwarding is required only if you are running a proxy server or true firewall instead of or in addition to a NAT. I got that from the xbox website but I'm still a bit confused. Does that mean even if I block those ports xbox live! will still work because I'm not on a proxy? Eli
I'd say just 3074 needs to be blocked. 88 is a reserved port so you might be blocking other things. Blocking one port would stop it from working properly. But don't take my full word on it
Fabian-
hey dude, these are the ports for xbox live Xbox Game Server Port (TCP): 22042 Voice Chat Port (TCP/UDP): 22043-22050 Peer Ping Port (UDP): 13139 Peer Query Port (UDP): 6500 If you block the ports on a router, none of the devices that connect through that router will be able to use those ports, doesn't matter if there's a proxy in between, or even if you're using a computer to host the internet connection to the xbox (internet connection sharing) and you block those ports on the firewall you will get the same result, no one will be able to connect to live!. Hope the info was usefool :)
unimatrixzer0
Thanks for the port numbers. I wonder why microsoft only lists those 3 above.
Deaf Spacker
Why do you want to block the ports?
outsida92
I realize that this thread is over 11 years old but I have a question that has to do with the Xbox Live ports. I am mostly interested in one particular port, the Voice Chat Port. Is that still the port (Voice Chat Port (TCP/UDP): 22043-22050) that is used for Voice Chat? I am asking because my soon to be 16yr old niece is on the Xbox 360 and is talking to other gamers. Some of them are getting pretty graphic in what they are talking to her about (she has told me). My bro isn't too happy, nor am I, and while he doesn't mind her being on the 360, he doesn't want her to be able to do the voice chat. I realize there's always the messaging option and if it was possible to block that, I would be asking about that as well. But we are more concerned about the voice aspect at this point. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
