Well i've read this thread and I must say the younger generation really lost themselves into thinking this metal is alot better from 60's, 70's and 80's.

I came in here for a laugh, but had to post that nobody could take you 'metallers' seriously, since hardly any metal bands are listed here, and you are all too struck on DreamTheatre's latest album? It tries so damn hard to be metal that it is further away from it's goal than ever.

Oh, and the thread starter has 'CKY' in his sig, not a personal attack on you by any means, but CKY are just a Bam-pushing (or pushed by Bam) skater emo band, and are so bad at 'it' that they'd win first place in a pop idol contest. This invalidates the whole thread from post #1

In your post you trash the bands we listen to yet you mention none that you listen to yourself. Metal has alot of sub-catagories ie. Death Metal, Thrash Metal and nearly all the bands mentioned in this topic fall into one or another category.

Not to mention your lame attempt at tagging CKY as a skater emo-band, do you even know what emo is? Have you even listened to CKY or heard the lyrics? None of their songs refer to what you would call emo (just assuming on your poor judgement of what Emo is).

I love people like you who trash bands you haven't even listened to just to make yourselves feel big. You once again associate CKY with Bam even though the band has nothing to do with Bam, he just uses a couple of their tracks as fillers for his videos. Bam does not play in the band. The band also has a good idea on what is actually happening to the music industry and their trying to change that.

Deron Miller from CKY is more metal than your poser ass will ever be. His involved in the DEATH tribute project (they suck because you don't know them), got personally asked to open for Metallica and Guns N Roses and is respected by people like Dave Mustaine. You'd understand if you've seen him play live. He can shred like a mother****er.

I doubt you have ever heard of Pestilence or Cynic either. I guess they suck then.

Machine Head (old and new not the middle stuff)
Testament (the most overlooked band ever)
Soilwork
Meshuggah (just listen to I)
Metallica (yes even the load albums)
Killswitch Engage
Shadows Fall
System Of A Down

so many more to choose...

But at the moment i have been listening to the new Mars Volta, and it kicks total
ass.

oh and if this invalidates the thread so much from post one i guess thats why some of the greatest metal bands like cky, such as when James Hetfeild said his favorite band is cky, oh and Bjorn Gelotte from In Flames also said that he thinks cky rock, oh and there was also vocals/guitarist from Children Of Bodom alexi "wildchild" Laiho

wow never seen another fan of testament, i reckon "the new order" album is awesome, one of my favorite albums.
