A lot of people read these forums for help and tips everyday and never post. Nothing wrong with that. You should feel good that when you help someone by posting you are helping a lot more than just one person.

especially with the sort of members we have around here, *cough* keldyn *cough*.

maybe neowin can have a 'Introduction to neowin for shy posters' guide :p

The thing that I believe scares people away is that they have to follow a certain set of rules precisely or otherwise they are picked on by everyone. But we don't need to loosen up, but if a new member has to read a guide and it is too complicated (and I am sure it will be) these new members will be too intimidated to post. Just some thoughts.

Those 7290 0 posters all come here believe it or not. :D

When Redmak cleans out the DB, it is also done by last activity - so, if a person has 0 posts and has visited the forum in the past few months their account remains.

If it was done any other way it would be unfair to those who choose not to post and read regularly.

The user database is some 4Mb in size and the whole database is like 300Mb.

If I where to delete 1/4 (taking last activity into consideration) of the users that would mean I'd save 1Mb.

This won't speed up mysql one bit and we have enough disk space so that's no issue either

And as soon as he does delete someone, I'm sure he'd get an e-mail the very next day from someone demanding to know why their account was deleted.

I say, leave the 0 posters there. You've still got a 50% activity rate, that's better than MY forums can say.

(400 active of 2100 users)

:D
