Do you feel sorry for the people who had access to a form of transportation that didn't evacuate?

    • Not at all - They were fully capable of evacuating.

After Lousianna has been devistated by 2 hurricanes, what do you think? Were people capable of evacuating smart for staying? Was it there fault, did they know what was coming? Express yourself!

If they had the means to evacuate but didn't, it was their choice. They have no right to complain. I do feel sorry for those who couldn't leave, though.

I'm not trying to be insensitive here, but why do Americans build their houses out of wood in places they know are frequently prone to hurricanes and tornados, and then moan and whine that they have lost their homes.

For the richest country in the world, is it so hard to build things out of bricks and concrete.

It's called history. New Orleans is a very old city, and when people settle or are born into an area, they tend to stay there because moving can be very expensive. Also, being a concentration of population itself attracts people to the city itself or surrounding suburbs. Really it can be explained quite easily with a little common sense. It was settled because it was next to a waterway, quite important way back when. Entire nations are settled under sea level, it really isn't all that baffling.
