Kr0z Posted October 27, 2005 Share Posted October 27, 2005 A Russian man has been jailed for murdering an air traffic controller who was on duty when the man's family died in a plane crash. The Swiss air traffic controller was working when two planes collided in 2002. The wife and two children of Russian man Vitaly Kaloyev were on board, and all three died. Kaloyev travelled to Switzerland and stabbed the air traffic controller, who he blamed for their deaths. A Swiss court has convicted Kaloyev of premeditated killing and sentenced him to eight years in prison. In Russia, the killing is largely seen as a crime of passion and there have been rallies calling for Kaloyev's release. I can not get over the fact that the killer got just eight years for murder. From my memory, the air traffic controller was left with two station to control and there wasnt enough safety operation procedure to prevent that.
