Well I would say San Fransisco CA/Bay Area since it is after all includes Silicon Valley.

There are other hubs such as the research district in North Carolina, Dallas/Houston/Austin TX, and others.

I moved from Florida and now live in what you would call the Silicon Valley. If you were to ask me what's truly different about it, I would have to say that more students carry handhelds, and laptops. All of the major tech corporations have a business center in downtown, and there're a lot of incredibly rich people who live in this area (me not being one of them). I would have agree that Cali (San Fran/San Jose) is the technology center of the US, and possibly the world.
