Borland 5.0 personal ed. help

Question

For those who've used Borland, 5.x you probably realise it makes these annoying .csm files that store all your settings form the last session - including the program you were working on. That's fine. What ticks me off is that when I complie a program or open another one up after closing the previous work, it seems to want to complie everything together. Whats worse is that even if I delete the .csm file after closing down the program it still happens.

How can I get rid of this really annoying feature? I know I could link another IDE to its complier, I just feel like doing everything all in the same program.

I like visual c++ better, but I need borland for school. Is

Borland 6.0 IDE better, does it offer mouse scroll and better editing features and does it get rid of the annoying .csm files or similar.?
