Can't stay logged in

Recommended Posts

I have my option set in my User CP to stay logged in all the time but it doesn't work. I am using IE6 on Windows XP. I have tried several things to try to troubleshoot what the problem is. I have added neowin as a trusted site in my IE6 security settings, added neowin to always allow cookies on the IE6 privacy settings, turned Zone Alarm 3 off, and did some searching on these boards to see if anybody else was having this problem but haven't had any luck.

The odd thing is that when I go to the forum main page, it has my name on the bottom included with the logged in users. But when I try to go to the control panel or create a new thread, I am forced to log in again. Anybody know what my problem with this is?

Thanks.

Well, I had specified to accept all cookies from neowin without any luck. So, as you suggested, I lowered to privacy settings to the lowest to accept all cookies from all websites (and turned off zone alarm again) but I still had to log in again after I logged in and closed my browser.

Any other suggestions?

EDIT: By the way, I don't have this problem with any other forums/websites.

I have had this problem before. and was given this to help :D

This is a phantom bug that keeps coming back, we don't know what causes it but what usually fixes it is to delete your Neowin cookies (there are usually 2) in C:Documents & SettingsusernameCookies

(where username is your name you use to login to Windows.)

delete the 2 cookies with neowin in the name (usually neowin.net & www.neowin)

The above path is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 for others just do a search on C: for the cookies folder.

Give it a shot and see what happens

Woohoo! That did it. Thanks Sleeper.

I had actually tried to do this last night and deleted one of the neowin cookies (I did not know there was two) and no luck. But after deleting both of them just now and logging in, I am still logged in after I close and reopen the browser again.
