Help on Mac Purchase

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to buy a new mac in the next couple of days. I THINK i know why i want one and what i want but i would like someone who is a mac person to talk to me about what is good/bad about them. I DON'T WAN'T : "Macs RULE" or "MACS SUCK", I think i want the new G4 DP 1.25 but if someone had time either in this forum, by PM or ICQ/AIM/YAHOO/MSN (i would prefer by one of those) to talk to me about them i would REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

THanks a lot!

AIM/YAHOO: glockfan99

MSN: haltok@hotmail.com

ICQ: 64357175

thanks

Ross

i used macs in school, they run pretty smoothly but the one thing that irritated me to death was the single button mouse. while using photoshop or browsing the internet i always try to right click.

a) try before you buy - find an apple store, or a compusa with a mac section and actually mess with the machine. that's what sold me on mine, and should be the reason for you buying yours.

b) what do you want to do with it? - you COULD get a dp 1.25 g4, but are you going to use that power? what sort of applications are you looking to run? do you want

c) how much do you want to spend - dp 1.25's are cool, but might be overkill if you don't want to spend the cash. I have a 17" iMac and it's a dream meachine. I do EVERYTHING on it, plus, it was cheap for what I got (800mhz g4, 256mb ram, 80b hd, superdrive). make sure you get what you need for the right price.

remember, i can't, nor can anyone else, tell you what you like, only you can do that ;)

Definitely go to a nearby Apple store or re-seller and play with the machines for yourself. I know CompUSA has an Apple representitive in the store almost all the time (the one at my store said he works 40 hours a week), if they are there talk to them and pick their mind for all the useful info you can think of.
