Speed test your connection

Waiting for my free speed bump from Virgin this quarter. 100MB ought to be sweet, let alone the subsequent hike to 120 that is to come as well :D

Briefly noticed speeds in excess of 10MB in JDownloader tonight. Either it is playing up or a sign of things to come :shifty:

Just went from paying $33/mo with AT&T to $20/mo with Comcast. AT&T was really screwing us, as we only had a 1.5 Mbps connection...

Results -

Download: 24.41 Mbps

Upload: 3.54 Mbps

Ping: 5ms

I'm happy at least. :)

Had 50mb for about 7 months and its always been good. Get upgraded to 100mb end of the month if Virgins rollout schedule is to be believed :)

Bud, I was using Blast service plan. I pay about 70$ per month... downgrade the service plan to one level lower, now my internet is almost useless...

Was on the 50Mb and they up-speeded me a couple of day ago.

I was thinking of seeing how fast this 100Mb was going to be. Then I was going to ditch the phone part of my package--as one kid has left home and the other has an iPhone the land-line isn't used--I was paying for 24/7 calls and caller display and nobody uses it, then was going to drop to the middle tier 60Mb. This would drop my bill from ?55 to ?27, basically half price.

However, I noticed whilst downloading from Usenet at full tilt, it made it very slow to surf the t'internet. I thinks to myself - OK the modem is gigabit - the PC is gigabit - but the router is only 100baseT. Bottleneck city. So I go on Amazon and order a very nice shiny new gigabit router. Problem solved full speed and surfing.

Wait, hang on, I was going to drop to 60Mb - oops I 'forgot'. Now I have spent ?45 on a router I don't need. D'oh.

Thinking about it I'll stick to 100Mb it's only ?8 more
