How can a recover my password from a cookie?

Recommended Posts

I forgot my password, but I managed to find the cookie, that was automatically loging me into a site, but the password is encrypted (I think), and it looks like this:

2c01d713bc304eb7c5c126ea311ff3d7

Could anyone please tell me what my password was? :shiftyninja:

I think that's the password encrypted in MD5. Anyway, if you have the cookie, why don't you find out what email you are registered with and request a new password?

Because he's learning how to hack his friend's email account, with the cookie recovered from when his friend was last there. Just my guess.

Well, not exactly...

It is my brothers...

But it is not a personal kinda thing like e-mail, it's just a download site, which I can't get into, because you need an invite to get in... :alien:

Very sharp, I didn't pick that up at first. My advice. Install a keylogger (google will help you there), clear the cache of the web browser meaning he has to type the password in again and check the records after.

Not that I would actually do this as I have too much to do with my life lol

Try some possible passwords and generate every time a hash from it. When the created hash matches your saved hash, you've found the password! :D

And no, there's no decryption of MD5 hashes... :(

Yes there is. But if it's a long password, it will take days to decrypt.

It's called PRIVACY. I'm willing to bet you don't want people snooping around your personal stuff. It's disgusting for anyone to help this idiot on his path to a becoming yet another degenerate with no morals, values, or respect for others.

Ask your brother for access to the site. If he gives it to you then all is well. If not, it's probably because he doesn't trust you. From what you've posted, I wouldn't trust you either.

Become a better person and things will go better for you in life. We've got enough mindless twits floating around the planet...

Tell me then, how do you decrypt a one-way hash algorithm?

Only way is via brute-force.

I thought these types of conversations were not allowed.

I don't know what's "illegal" about this... I searched the net, and found tons of site talking about MD5, so I don't think that we're doing a "bad" thing.

BTW. I still have no idea how to use them, so I would be very grateful if someone could find out what the password is.

And how do you know that I am a bad person? ... Ohh, no you found out!

I am satan, and when I get this password I'm going to come up, and rule the world!

You just have no idea what the situation is. My brother is just a ****, so he wouldn't tell me the pass.

But think whatever you like... but remember: I'm going to get you! Buhahahaha! ...

:p

Brute-force is what I am talking about. I am not a "nerd" when it comes to decryting MD5, but I helped a friend of mine to find his password to cutenews ones, just using some software I found.

it its a strong password its gona take you a loooooooooooong time to decrypt

And how do you know that from looking at a MD5 string?

MD5 isnt easy to reverse, your bang out of luck.

If you were sensable, you should of set your password reset up!

Like... a year? Well, I hope not.

But could you please give me some simple instructions how I can start decrypting it?

... Somebody must know if it's a MD5 string or not, because Firefox is using it in cookies... So if you know a bunch of things about Firefox, maybe you know in what language it writes this pass.

Do you have any idea what the password might be?

If so, you can create a php page and enter words and then MD5 them, look for matching strings.

I have no idea. :pinch:

So it's not a DECRYPTION per say, which means you get the PASSWORD by reversing the encrypted password without trying every single one of possible password.

Brute force is just what it says: encrypt the password with the same algorithm as the one used and compare results - if it matches - you have the password (or another string which creates the same MD5 hash)

Perfect hashing algorithm would have a ratio of 1:1, which would mean, that you get a different hash for different string, but it's not possible. So there's alwayws a chance that you'll have TWO different strings/password generating the same hash.

As part of the contract you sign up for when you create a username at Neowin.net.

That is what I am talking about.

May I ask what site you are trying to get into? Oink's Pink Palace! Pedro's BTMusic Tracker! Some of the really good ones are really very hard to get into! :) :D You do know that it is very illegal and naughty to download things from these sites! I never, never do things like this, ever! :shifty:
