Re-installing the application may fix this problem." this is directx 9 isnt it? i have directx 9 installed...FEAR installs directx 9 when it installs. -Hiroshi- Posted May 5, 2006 Share Posted May 5, 2006 Yeah the reason why you're getting this error is because Direct3D was updated in Febuary, and current games like Fear run specifically on that particular file. Usually a game will come with the Febuary Redist, so if you get a Direct3D installation prompt after install, do not cancel it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
quanta Posted May 5, 2006 Share Posted May 5, 2006 There is a April 2006 update for DirectX 9.0c now! http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ The reason for the confusion is that Windows Update will not mention these updates, and all the versions are still labelled as 9.0c. :( You will need to manually check and download the Redistributable file from the URL above to upgrade.
