Run Homebrew On 360!

Recommended Posts

Undertakencodes posted in the MaxConsole Forums that he has found a hole in the security of the Xbox 1 emulator. He has developed a port of Snes9x which from his video appears to be running from a media disk on the 360. According to the hacker, there will be no need for any hardware/firmware modifications, and maybe in july-august he'll publish the tutorial and the .iso file of the Xploit (at the moment he is scared he says).

Hi all, I have found a hole in the security of the emulator of Xbox1. I have developed a port of the Snes9x but to play is almost impossible at the moment. I don?t hope that you believe me but homebrew already is possible in our Xbox 360s.

Maybe on july-august i?ll publish the tutorial and the .iso file of the Xploit. In certain way I am scared and i dont know what to do.

Hi all again, i had thought to release the Xploit and the snes emulator simultaneously. I would like to form a group of coders so that the project arrives at good port.

Patch = hard drive download. Trivial for modders to overcome with a hard drive reset... something that might infact be built in to the console ;)

possibly, but I bet they will do a system firmware update over a hard drive based download update... they do have that capability of flashing the firmware to force the old emulate not to function if it isnt the version they want it to be which would virtually lock the problem out..

thats only if you connect it to online. alot of people with modded xboxs use it as media stations and have second xboxs to play online.

im just waiting for the day that the games themselves force you to patch your system to play.. or secretly patch them

very cool, except the game doesn't work smoothly. i noticed the screen keeps flickering and the game looks like it's very glitchy. a very good start :D

yeah, this is gonna be like the psp all over again. there's gonna be a constant cat and mouse game. sure, you can mod the dvd drive fw, and not connect to the internet, but then the games you are going to be playing will have an update on them. can't rip the update out, cuz then the file signatures won't match. so now you're screwed, or stuck to just playing older 360 games.

same thing with this. ok, so you're playing homebrew, and xbox 1 games. same as above, they'll soon have the fix on the new 360 games you buy. so now you own a $400 console to use as an emulator (which you could do on your xbox1, psp, pc, etc for free).

Using the above methods, it wouldn't be possible to just play copied games, right? I have no interests in that at all. But I would love to run some homebrew on the 360. Can any of you imagine a 4 player game of Beats of Rage over Xbox Live? That would be wicked fun.

I figured out how to do this months ago.

(Notice how mine is the only one with the actual blade that says "the xbox guide is not available for original xbox games")

Its easy and fake. www.alpha-xt.com/xboxhack.wmv

That doesn't show me how to do it. That's what I meant. Can you show us all how to get that code to run on the 360?

EDIT: Rumor has it that the hack will be released tomorrow, to coincide with the Independence Day hack.

Like the PSP+Sony, Microsoft could include updates on Game discs which force users to update to a certain firmware revision before the game is able to be played.

So being Online really means nothing.

If they keep forcing us to patch, locking out this ability, I won't bother. I can do a lot of this already with my Dreamcast, and I don't need a $400 brick.

There is something fishy with that video? why do they use a ?home made? VGA cable when they can use the official ones and where do they got the correct pin layout for the VGA and the audio? Also, what?s the point of having a Mac Mini near your ?test area? when you?re going to roll a video and everything on the scene can be used to argue the authenticity of the video? :rolleyes:huh: :rolle:whistle:ifty:

Well, I can understand the homemade VGA cable, as the official one is over $40. But, you can just get a cheap one at play-asia for less than $10.

Not sure. But I'm sure it can be done. I'm no engineer, but I'm sure if I was, and I had my mind set to it, I'd be able to crack out a new cable. Though... would probably require an original working model to use as a blueprint. Which, would then defeat the purpose of making the shoddy version.

Any comments on my fake video? Heh.

I had a feeling you weren't going to be releasing any documentation

I'm putting it up on youtube to make a point. People=way too gullible.

Let's start a fake video challenge. So far, nobody has included the "original xbox game" blade in their homebrew vids.
