Disable Norton notifications window.

Question

Sometimes the window that pop-up in right-down corner of the screen could minimize my games when show. I have disabled all possible alerts in options, but at least everyday a window tell me definitions updated, etc. Any way to completly disable that window? I am using Norton Internet Security, but is the same for any Norton product. That animated window is stupid, I remember older Norton software only showing a flashing icon; I am NOT in danger when autoupdating, no need of notification.

Note: This thread is not about if Norton products are good or bad.

Try looking through all the settings, there should be something there. When I norton (oh, how I knew nothing) Norton never displayed that stuff. What version of Nortonare you running? And is this the Firewall, AV, or both.

Hi-- we were having this problem, too, and I found the answer on another site/forums... it said:

Take the path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Center\ to locate two files; symwsc.exe and symwscno.exe. Create a new folder in the same directory and place the two files in it rather than delete them (just in case...). You shouldn't get the alerts after this.

We did this and it worked! I hope you get the message and are able to try this before you have to uninstall your NAV.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks a lot, but it can even break the installation. Disabling one service is easy and normally safe (like I did with Norton Protection Center (that comes with NIS2006)), but moving and/or deleting Norton "system" files is dangerous almost all times. I am thinking that maybe a registry key could make the job :pinch:
