Xbox 360 VGA cable, MS or Joytech?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Is there much difference between the quality of the official ms 360 vga cable and the joytech one? Just the joytech one is quite a bit cheaper and was just wondering if there is any noticible difference?

Also, anyone know if a HDMI cable is coming out for the 360 yet?

Just got a 360 and bought the MS vga cable. Came with adapters for male/female vga and audio for headphone jack plugins. Great quality. I'd say just go for the official one as you will be able to use it for a very long time.

I agree, I almost always go with quality over price.

But at the same time, a VGA cable isn't exactly rocket science...I'd say a third-party one is worth investigating if you're not interested in paying the markup on the MS one.

Team Xecutor also has some impressive cables.

I go the joytec one becasue I got mine shortly after the launch, and the original ones were very hard to come by back then.

Im very happy with the joytech one, its well shielded, its braid covered and comes with a similar style optical cable.

i dunno about you guys, but I Personally don't like the MS VGA and MS HD cables myself.....the optical cable doesn't fit too snug

Of course I own the MS of each.....but you might want to look at the Joytec, especially if it holds the optical cable better.

Go for the original cable! the materials and the quality are top of the line and if you ever have a problem with your console and need to call tech support you may (or may not) be asked to remove the VGA cable (or any non official accesory that its not certified by Microsoft) that is plug into the console.

Anyways, anyone who wants to get the most out their 360 should buy the VGA cable, it plays everything on its native aspect ratio/resolution and you can just forget about the streching problems.

I have an Aquos from Sharp (best TV maker ever!) and it's a 4:3 AR (1024x768), when using the VGA cable the dashboard will display at 4:3 pop in a 360 game and it goes to 16:9 all by itself, want to play an original Xbox title? sure! just boot the game and it goes 4:3 or 16:9 depending on the title, same goes for DVDs and video clips.

I love this feature because I have several DVDs (TV shows, concerts and so on) that are 4:3 and it bugs me how they look when you play them at 16:9 and it bugs me even more to mess around with my TV just to watch a movie or play an original Xbox game.

Just take a look at Fable, it looks like crap if your 360 is connected via component and running at 720p 16:9, run the game using the VGA cable and the problem its gone! it'll play 480p 4:3 with FAA and it will look a lot better than it does on the Xbox because all the shiny lighting is reduced to a normal level (this is one of the things many people didn't liked about Fable on the Xbox).

When using component cables you'll have to deal with all sort of streaching problems depending on your sources, but this is not a problem when using the VGA cables and for that I thank God! :p  ;)

I agree. Using VGA (Microsoft) improves on the rendering of imagery and antialiasing to a noticable extent. I recommend buying one!

I've got an unbranded one from ebay myself and it's just as good as the MS one, if not better (due to the price)

picture quality is fantastic on my standard tv

My view from reviewing a couple is that the VGA cable from MS gives the best quality picture out of all of them and has less compatibility problems.

If you can afford it go for the Monster branded one as its definetly the best on the market and also offers optical out for your sound

Hmmm while I may have agreed with this a long time ago, Monster Cables are over rated and over priced. Especially if anyone goes for a Digital based cable like HDMI or anything like that.
