magik Posted July 27, 2006 Share Posted July 27, 2006 People who paid attention during E3 knew that Halo 3 was going to be the final installment of the current Halo trilogy. But according to Spong this fact was entirely overlooked or disbelieved by most Xbox 360 fans. It turns out to be true however. A Microsoft insider told that Halo 3 would be the final game in the current Halo series. This doesn’t mean there won’t be any other games in the future but the story won’t continue from the point where Master Chief ends in this third installment. Perhaps a prequel or something else with a Halo touch might turn up in the future. The next big question is of course what Bungie’s going to do when there’s no Halo game to be made. It was announced yesterday that a major new IP is going to be announced by Microsoft Game Studios anytime soon. It’s most likely this will be done at the upcoming X06 event in Barcelona. Spong also learned that Bungie said they will be announcing a new IP, so we can assume Bungie and MGS are both talking about the same game. Writer of Halo: The Fall of Reach and Gears of War Eric Nylund has revealed some more vague information about an upcoming title. What am I working on next? Well, if you took all the best parts of your favorite games, and smashed them together at light speed with your favorite movies and books, you’d get something close to this. It’s not announced yet, but as soon as Microsoft does, I can at least tell you the title, genre, and what particular thing makes this game goose-bump worthy.
