PL_ Veteran Posted August 14, 2006 Veteran Share Posted August 14, 2006 Just wondering, because MS already has some good franchises on their Windows platform, so why don't they release some 360 versions? DirtyLarry Veteran Posted August 14, 2006 Veteran Share Posted August 14, 2006 Just wondering, because MS already has some good franchises on their Windows platform, so why don't they release some 360 versions? Zoo Tycoon Flight Simulator Age of Empires Links I would say with the first 3 it is a mater of how well they would translate to the console because of the controller issue. Think about how dumbed down Flight Simulator for example would wind up being. Also although BFME II proved an RTS could be played on a console, and perhaps other Sim games as well could be as a result too, I do not see it changing the market on a whole just yet. Links is their golf game correct? Since Tiger Woods dominates the console market in regards to golf, I would guess that is why there.
Hupp
I would kill for a updated Age of Empires/ Rise of Rome...
magik
They already tried Links on the original Xbox. Didn't do too well presumably because of Tiger Woods from EA Sports.
.KICK
I heard that AoE was coming in the future, not official though and with recent failures of flight games on 360 I think they are giving Flight Simulator a miss at the moment

Currently Flight Simulator X takes full advantage of the 360 controller, so I really don't know if it would be much of a jump moving it to the 360. They would have to simplify the number of control options you can set, as there aren't enough button combinations on the controller to account for all of them, but I really don't think it would take much work to have a decent port. I stand corrected then. I always watched my gf's father playing the older Flight Simulator games and it just seemed like he was doing a lot on the keyboard, but if this is the case than sounds good. Shadrack
I don't see why they couldn't release an xbox 360 keyboard and mouse. If they came out with that and some of these titles then I'm sure people would buy the extra peripherals. Bundle internet explorer and outlook express 360 versions at the same time. The only problem I see with this is most people have their xbox connected to a television that is in an atmosphere unsuitable for a keyboard and mouse. I just have my xbox connected to my computer monitor, so having a keyboard and mouse for the xbox seems logical.

Yeah, you can use your own keyboard, but it's up to the publisher if they support it or not!
digitalsoft
i like the idea of keyboard and mouse for the 360, i think they should make one like the new backlite keyboard coming out but 360 style, would look great and AOE3 on the 360 would be great i think. There is a huge cry for them to BC Links 2004 because it is still better than TW 2006. microsoft doesn't have the rights to links anymore and the company that does went under. boo :(

Yeap, which is a shame. I don't know why developers aren't supporting the keyboard/mouse?
Spartan_X
Ensemble Studios is working on a game for the 360, thats all I can say ATM. :shiftyninja: No plans for ZooTycoon or FS on the 360 ATM. MS sold all the sport games IPs (XSN = www.xsnsports.com) to get EA to support XBL... The use of mouse and keyboard is a big NO for gameplay on any Xbox game, the use of keyboard on games will only be allowed for text input on certain titles. You can also use a keyboard on the Xbox Dashboard to write messages and so on.
magik
MS sold all the sport games IPs (XSN = www.xsnsports.com) to get EA to support XBL... I knew there was something else behind MS suddenly dropping the XSN franchise. Damn EA bullies! They really hate competition, don't they? Instead of building upon and improving their own work they figure out ways to eliminate their competitions (buying exclusive NFL rights, forcing MS to stop XSN in order to support XBL, etc)
