You can now go into Music or Pictures, and access the PCs stuff through there (hopefully) You can't transfer from a USB HDD, but you can stream from it (unless it is in NTFS). For Windows Media Connect, all you have to do is run the WMC application and then tell your 360 to connect to that computer. When that happens, go back to the computer and set it to allow the 360 to connect. This gives you the ability to stream music and pictures.
