XBox 360 VGA Cable and Sound

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I've just purchased the XBox 260 VGA cable so I can play games in HD on my monitor.

Now I can get the picture working fine, its the sound thats not happening.

My monitor (ViewSonic VX912B), doesnt come with any audio ports, and I'm wondering now what I have to do to get the sound working.

I've got a 5.1 surround sound system, is there some way I can use that, and if so what extra cables do I need?

Any and all help is appreciated :D

The cable comes with the little audio thing it's a black connector with 2 sides for the red/white cables then on the other side it comes out with the three colored ones for surround sound, if you bought the official microsoft branded cable that is...

I did buy an official Microsoft VGA cable (it wasnt the component HD cable I'm using, that came with the Xbox when I got it).

As you can see in the photo attached, I got a VGA socket gender changer (I dont need that one), and a connection for the two audio cables.

Any more hints and tips?

For the sound you need to get a 3.5mm coupler then the rca cables from xbox would connect to the rca to 3.5mm adaptor then this connects to the coupler which connects to speaker cable. Alternatively connect the two rca cables from xbox into the rca/3.5mm adaptor into ure computer line in jack but pc wud need to b switched on for sound. hope this makes sense!!!
