realmccoy
Guys What do you think of the iBook 800 MHz 12.1, Is this fast for Mac applications? I plan on using the machine as machine to learn Mac OS, Photoshop ( I am not a pro) , programming , play movies and listening to music. Thanks
aaron901
14.1" is better movies don't look good on 12.1" and you have a larger screen area to play with photoshop
jessejlt
When it comes to asthetics, I think the 12" is king. Although for screen realastate the 14" is obviousely better. Now as for your post. I love my iBook man, although I bought it for development and word processing. I don't know if I would suggest an iBook for Photoshop work. If you do get one though, deffinetely max it out with ram, osX runs like a dog with anything < 512. I'm a developer so I maxed mine out and she runs like a *cough*ing champ! jesse ;-)
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted November 10, 2002 Veteran Share Posted November 10, 2002 i'd get one if a tower wasn't a priority. I need something that will give me a reason to stop using my PC :)
nl|nighthawk
I'd buy a Mac if they werent so expensive.. Im going to wait a year or two, when I have about 1,500 - 2,000 saved up in my bank account and buy a Mac.
Chad
I am getting the 800mhz ibook in the next week or so with the 12inch screen. I have thought about getting the 14", but the weight difference, the size difference, and the price isnt worth it for me
kryptonik
I think it's badass. $999.99 is not expensive. That's cheap for a Mac. If I had the money I would get one as soon as I could, but I don't, so I have to wait
bboyroe
14.1" is bettermovies don't look good on 12.1" and you have a larger screen area to play with photoshop The 12.1 is exactly the same resolution so you don't have a larger screen area, everything just looks bigger. Gator
Although for screen realastate the 14" is obviousely better. Lets not confuse anyone. Both the 12" and the 14" use the same screen resolution, 1024x768. The 12" screen is perfect and everything from pictures to movies look crystal clear and beautiful on it. The 14" just looks bulky and akward to me. Looking at it it is easy to say the iBook was designed for the 12" screen. I love my 12", it's my "right hand" man. :D

If you are getting an iBook for a desktop replacement, the 14" would be better obviously. But for mobility, 12" is tops.
