mezz
>> antivirus Please, use the search function right before you make any of new topic. Check -> https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...ST&f=30&t=49703 >> firewall Have you install RedHat 8.0, yet? There have the configure of firewall during the installtion. The firewall usually came with *nix by default. Linux has IPtable (this one is better) and IPChain.. BSD has IPF, IPFW and PF.. BSD's firewall is much more powerful than Linux's.. Check -> http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/R...wallconfig.html Check a nice manual -> http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/R.../install-guide/ Since, you are newbie.. You need to learn how to use google.com and search its own website such as if you are using RedHat, then go to redhat.com and find the doc first. Most of time, there's already have the answer to your questions.
justinprice
I searched on google for quite a while, but didnt find anything great. I really just wanted a recomendation. Thanks alot though. Sorry, i looked around here, but didnt see the firewall stuff. I asumed you didnt really need a firewall or antivirus software for Linux though. Im reading tons and tons of manuals right now on everything redhat linux. I havent installed it yet, i want to know what the heck im doing before i did. I was wondering if the firewall preinstalled in redhat blocked outgoing connections or just incoming ones. The Windows XP firewall only stops incoming connections. Im really excited about getting away from windows and on to linux, it sounds so great. Edited November 13, 2002 by justinprice
