Microsoft Office V.x?

So you can play Windows games through it or what?

Lol stupid question, but I need to learn this stuff if I'm gonna be getting a Mac

nope, u cant run windows games on a mac, even if u use virtual pc (and install windows on it) it would be like 1 fps or so, but if u have games (such as the original sim city or any game that arent 3D/high res) then it may run ok on VPC but if u want to play the popular games of today, your out of luck :(, unless u use your pc for those games lol

Office for Mac is quite different from the Windows version in a variety of ways. It's not as complicated in many ways, which is a good thing. I'd have to say I prefer it to any of the versions available for Windows, however I don't have a Mac (haven't for years now) so I only get to use it at a friend's house :(

It's kinda like how Internet Explorer 5.5 for Mac was better than for Windows (in sooo many ways, the main being standards compliance)... guess that's not so true anymore.

Well, actually the latest IE for Mac is 5.2 - and it blows bigtime ;)

From what I have heard, Office v.X is just Office 9 ported to OSX.

nope, if you look at the featureset, it's like office 10.5 (office 10 plus extras and some polish)

And, IE is slow. Get chimera, it's faster, renders pages better, and does tabbed browsing (the best thing in the world :) )

Sorry, had the versions wrong. However at the time (maybe it was just plain ol' 5) it was the most standards compliant browser around. I didn't have a Mac around this time so I don't know anything about it beyond that.

Edit: On the topic of Office, it might be worth a mention that the newest Mac version was almost a complete rewrite of the suite, so it's not really even the same thing as Office for Windows. From what I've seen, on those few occassions I can actually use a Mac with Office, it definately is more polished than Office XP. I really like Enterouge... it just seems to fit the way I work better than Outlook (which I admittedly like more than most).
