Copernic Reporter Posted November 16, 2006 Reporter Share Posted November 16, 2006 VideoLAN is an excellent multimedia player with it's own plugins for playing different formats, so it doesn't need any codecs to be installed. It works great for previewing partially downloaded files too as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network. Jexel
too bad video lan doesn't support rmvb files then it'll be perfect. Thanks for the heads up. I might install it.
Liisachan
* VP5/VP6 - Flash Video support * The True Audio Lossless codec support * WavPack support Now VP62.avi and VP62.flv (i.e. FLV4) really play, finally. They didn't play with 086test1. VP5, VP61, and FLV5 (VP62+Alpha) don't play either, so maybe the could have said "VP62/FLV4" instead of "VP5/VP6". TTA doesn't play. WavPack neither. WavPack Lossless/Hybrid/Lossy.... none plays. Though the 'what's new' list is long, they still have some work to do, I guess. So currently, maybe ffmpeg/mplayer = slightly better? But I like VLC! :)

Liisachan
Test2 said "WavPack support" but now NEWS.txt coming with Test 2a doesn't have this "WavPack support" support thing. Pity, even though it didn't work anyway in Test2.
