HalfLing
I managed to score a couple PS3s. One I plan to keep for me! One I plan to sell on eBay to offset its high cost. When is the best time to sell? The market is kindof saturated with people selling them right now. Will prices on eBay go up towards X-Mas time or is the roughly 1000$ current price ceiling the highest they are going to be? Thanks, Jake
John Veteran Posted November 27, 2006 Veteran Share Posted November 27, 2006 I'm sure they'll go up a few weeks before Christmas... Ensure you leave enough time to ship it to them before Christmas (Y)
jackwanders
You've already missed the boat, i think. I doubt prices will spike again before Christmas, since it's already so close to Christmas anyway. You'll easily sell for $700 or so, but I wouldn't expect much more than that. User6060
They'll be in stores again soon and I'm sure those ones will end up on eBay until theres enough to go around for everyone. The high prices were LAUNCH prices and can only go down in my opinion
williamofsparta27
I don't think the Ps3 will do very well because it is so expensvie. I'm not going to pay $600 dollars for a game console when I can buy a computer and have it upgraded. I can see it's value but i think I'm going to have to wait till the price comes down to $450. Cavalyr
i think you will make some money off of it. just not to that amount you are thinking. between shipping and what not. hope you get lucky tho. nice.
Ironman273
If you take a look at auctions, they have BuyItNow prices in the thousands and the current bids (the ones about to end) are maybe around $650-700. I hate to say it, but if you bought 2 to offset the cost you've missed the boat. :( I was reading an article about how quickly the eBay PS3 prices have dropped. Apparently so many people bought them to eBay them that it got saturated too quickly. Edit: Ahh.. here it is: http://www.itworld.com/Tech/5051/061127ps3wii/
SnowRanger13
A bunch of people in line with me for PS3 on launch were saying how they were going to sell it but wait till there were less on Ebay. I told them they were stupid and they should put up auction ASAP. I'm not sure what they did, because i don't know them but I think you should try and sell it now before a few stores get there December shipment. Xerino
Well here in Northern Cali, they are pretty easy to find, the Circiut City, and Best Buy here still have plenty availible from launch
Brandon Live Veteran Posted November 28, 2006 Veteran Share Posted November 28, 2006 Yeah seems like nobody really wants a PS3... you would have been best to sell it before people realized it's not worth it.
dead.cell
Meh, I'd like one but I'm not gonna dish out that much for it. The $500 one is the one I've been looking at if anyone wants to.. ya know.. donate one to me. ;) I'm amazed by the Wii on eBay though. It didn't expect prices to be so low. Saw one for $350 with a game with free shipping. So I'm thinking: $250 console $50 game +?? tax +?? free shipping +?? eBay Where's the profit?
macrosslover
yeah the premium you could make on one right now is like $300-400 tops, which might not be a bit much but is still a premium. I think the ideal situation for me would be to sell one for at least a $700 premium. I don't know I think you might see a slight spike in prices like a week or so before Christmas as people get desperate to get it under the tree and they fully realize that there will be no more ps3's in stock for the rest of this year, but you won't see systems going for over $2,000 I believe, more like $1100-1700 range I can see. dnast
^ Why not? I believe he's selling. It would mostly pay for his other PS3. Or do you think last-minute shoppers will spike up the price quite a bit?
magik
If he's selling, then definitely. If he's buying then it's totally not worth it. :p
dnast
Yeah, it's definitely not worth buying at that price. I just figured since he was the topic starter and already owns 2 PS3s and the topic was about when the best time to sell was...well, you know. :p Edited November 29, 2006 by dnast
Arbiter
I actually had a friend who saw one at CostCo this week as a bundle and he didnt buy it because the he didnt think the games out made it worth the price.
