Parents Nearly Trade Kids for PS3

It seems people will do anything to get a PlayStation 3 this holiday season. A Minnesota radio host announced over the radio that if parents were willing to turn their children over to the station for 24 hours, they would give them a new PS3.

The joke soon turned sour when it became apparent that a majority of the callers were serious about the trade.

"We got more calls than we could handle," said Dave Ryan, "They were lined up willing to turn their kids over to strangers for a freakin' PlayStation."

Children offered included a one week and two day old baby. One caller named Katie attempted to get a PS3 by offering her 1 month old up for a 3 day period. When informed it was a hoax, she responded in disbelief.

Dave Ryan went onto say in an article,"But I didn't want them to feel too badly. I said, 'Listen you're not the only one who fell for this'. But at the same time, think about it, these are your kids, these are the most precious responsibility you'll ever have in your entire life. Be careful with your babies.' "

Wow, how sick can people get? Giving up their child for a day in order to get a free PS3...

And I have to say, the radio station shouldn't find it funny. I can't believe they would even joke about that. I understand they had no intention of doing such a deal, but still...

They should go find these people and report them to child protective services...no loving parent would actually believe (not to mention attempt) such a deal...

Agreed, it's one of those things you just wouldn't do.

As above - I don't see the problem. You'd assume that a radio competition would have the relevent child-care in place (should it have been genuine) to take care of the kids they took in. It's only like getting a babysitter in.

For 24 hours. Honestly I would do it.

They are paying you to babysit your kids.

(ps I dont have kids)

Are you guys serious, how materialistic do you have to be to even consider giving the care of your child, baby even, for a day for the gain of a toy for yourself. Its seriously selfish, and its not like babysitting, to be trusted in with caring for children you need to be certified, giving up your child to a complete stranger with no guarentee of anything is like handing over your kid to pedophile for a quick buck.
