mezz
Upgrade your RedHat to 8.0, it might work much better with updated kernel.
RadishTM Veteran Posted December 2, 2002 Veteran Share Posted December 2, 2002 Have you enabled your AC97 onboard sound in the BIOS?, that's the first thing to check :) .... Radish.

zivan56
Try: Insmod ac97_codec Insmod ac97 insmod via82cxxx_audio One of those should help you if you have ac97, if not you may need to install ALSA.
[xan]
Thanks! Guess what happened yesterday... One of my friends ( a 'linux' guru) gave me a SuSE package... and IS AMAZING... everything work ok ... I've installed even the tv tuner, printer and scanner... the only problem is the 3d acceleration because I have a Radeon 8500 card and the drivers won't work ... anyway is great :fun: :fun: :fun:
