Slim PS2 Differences

Recommended Posts

Hardware wise, is the Slim PS2 any different to the normal one? I was never sure what and why Sony released this.

Thanks

For starters.. it has an integrated network port on the back whereas the the original PS2 had an additional accesory you had to buy and install on the rear of the unit.

how many games support the hdd?

FFXI, GT4 (to save photos, but you can save those on any USB drive), SOCOM 3 (for downloadable content, but you can also save those in any USB drive).

FFXI is the only game I know of that needs the HDD to be played.

He's right, there is a fan. I have one. There also harder to mod, so I've heard.

Actually more simple.

Actually it is alot easier to use the Swap Disc method to play backups.

All you need is little clips that cost $10 and the Swap Magic Disc.

No need to open the unit or void your warranty.

I was speaking in reference to actually installing a mod chip. Swap methods are a PITA, IMO. Gotta go with whatever works though I guess. Region lockout is such an annoying concept.

Laser issues are gone and there are fixes available for older slims.

What was the first revision to fix the laser issue? Mine is SCPH-77001 CB
