Tim Dorr Veteran Posted December 4, 2002 Veteran Share Posted December 4, 2002 http://store.apple.com ? Look at the iBook, it's probably one of the better laptops out there (PC or Mac) and it's very affordable (the lowend is $999 US) :)

the evn show
Apple prices are fairly similar from company to company. If you would like a refurbished product you could try "powermax.com". I was unable to find information about paying duties on import (some places said yes, some said no - even government sites aren't very clear) so keep that in mind if you order from an online store based in the US. I purchased from a small "mac only" shop in town. The prices were identical to those on store.apple.ca so I didn't really save anything but I do get GREAT after-sale support. If I need information on any product the staff have either had one in stock or been able to tell me where to get it. When I wanted books they've been able to provide me with them (in some cases with a review and alternative recommendations). Alberta doesn't have a PST so it might be worth your time to come out here and buy your computer (you'll still have to pay GST). on a mid-range powerbook you could save a lot: $5,000 * 8% = $400 (even at $200 for greyhound tickets you'll still save $200) In calgary I bought from "mymacdealer". Amoung the worst was CompuSmart and Lond Drugs and futureshop. Future shop told me that the screen on an ibook would definetly "burn out" in about 3 months unless I bought $400 worth of extended warrenty. London Drugs told me that they don't really know much about macs because they don't sell them: they just use them to lure people to the computer section and then they sell them a PC. azazel-
I'll sell you my Dell Inspiron, since I've gotten my iBook, I just don't seem to be touching the Dell anymore. And it's sorta too big to be a decent door stop...I keep stubbing my foot on it. ;)
