DrunkenMaster
I need a spam filter for Linux and I'm using PINE as my e-mail program. I've done quite extensive searches on PINE's website, Google and Freshmeat for something I can use and there's nothing. All the SPAM filters I've seen require an MTA such as QMAIL and Sendmail though there are smaller proxy versions as well. Basically, all I want is an equivalent to MailWasher for Linux where I can check e-mail first, filter out the crap and then get my e-mail. Or preferably setup filters and bounce back 90+% of Viagra and Chinese e-mail I get. Any ideas? Forgot to include... I know there are shell & perl scripts out there but it doesn't help me since I want to *see* what I'm filtering first.
mezz
Check into SpamAssassin, AMaViS, RAV Antivirus, procmail, and Exim. All of these provide for either spam and/or virus filtering. Look at several links that I have provided -> https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=...ST&f=30&t=49703 Really, out there have many of different products for this, so try to use google.com or whatever.. DrunkenMaster
I was talking to a friend earlier and said I should be able to setup SPAM Assassin for POP3 filtering w/o the MTA as he said he'd already set it up to do just that. I was skeptical at first and I looked a bit more throughly at the documentation, I had only skimmed over their website before. I checked a couple other links after and realised i should be able to set it up w/ pine no probs. Thanks Mezz.
