Visual basic 6 Crashes

Question

I have Visual Basic 6 and everytime I attempt to either start a newly created program or start with compile or open a previously saved project, the program just exits out with no warning or anything. I have the latest VB6 runtimes and SP5. What is going on? I used to work before I had to format so why not now?

[edit] I'm trying to create a standard exe[/edit]

[edit2] Crashes when trying to create anything [/edit2]

I have reinstalled everythign and the system is the exact same as it was before the format. It installs fine but when I open it and create a form and attempt to "start" or "start with full compile" vb6 just exits out with no error message or anything.

SP6 Installed?

are you asking if I have it installed or questioning what I mean when I say sp5 installed? There was a SP5 for the visual basic 6 runtimes that I installed. However, VB6 ran without it before the format. I have some simple programs I just want to mess around with and see what I can come up with but until I can complie my thoughts are being wasted.
