Cara Veteran Posted December 12, 2002 Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2002 GOT IT!!! My iMac just got here and I'm typing my first post to Neowin on it... Man, the LCD is amazing and the only problem i am seeing is that it appears the company I ordered from made a mistake on my order, they forgot to include my update to OSX Jaguar but at the same time it appears they accidentally installed too much memory to it. ;) Instead of the 768 I was expecting, this system has a full gig!!! Well, this is the start to my Mac experience! Looks like it will be fun! Cara
Gator
Congrats and welcome to the Neowin Mac Family. :D So it shipped with 10.1.5? I'd call them and make them send you Jag and don't mention the 1 gig of memory. Then you'll be set.

Cara Veteran Posted December 12, 2002 Author Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2002 Congrats :)Approximately how long from the day you ordered it did it take to get to your doorstep? I may be ordering an iBook tonight. I ordered mine via SmallDog.com, it took 3 business days (I don't count the weekend) to receive my system. :) I have a message out to them so lets see how good their 'Customer Support' is...I've read nothing but good about them. :) Whats kinda odd is reading the box on the iMac (From Apple) it clearly states on there... Cara Veteran Posted December 12, 2002 Author Veteran Share Posted December 12, 2002 First Impressions Well, when I got my iMac I was needless to say excited...tore into the box like a rabid coyote. ;) Got it all setup on my desk and spent 3 minutes trying to figure out how to turn it on... Who would have thought they would put the power button on the back by where I plugged everything in! ;) After getting it up and running, registered the OS and Computer with Apple, went ahead and just started looking around the OS... I was amazed at how clear this LCD is... Spent another few minutes posting here on Neowin and then started installing a few applications... IE 5.2 and the like...effortless. Jumped back to my PC and my Sony CRT and was stunned... The pride and joy of my computing life, my Sony monitor, looks dull, blurry, and I can see the refreshing in it! (At Refresh 75!!!) I can't beleive that! How in the world did I use that monitor and not notice that for the past few years I've had it?! I look over here to my iMac who is sitting happily in screensaver mode, move the mouse (Admitting that the Pro Optical mouse is going to be going away soon. ;)) and am greeted with the wonderfulness which is the Apple LCD... Basically what I'm saying is...aside from managing to mess up my stuffit icons, not sure how since I haven't really done anything yet, I'm a very happy customer so far...and I'm working with the company to get my 10.2 CD which will make me even happier! Thanks for the welcome to the community everyone...it's nice to be here... Cara "Mac-Sith" ;)
akuma1
welcome to the mac community. I would recommend switching from IE 5.2 to Chimera. It run's a lot better for most people. Plus you can block pop-up ad's. :)
