I just copied normal winrar to my flash drive and it worked fine. So what's the point of this?

WinRAR Unplugged works as portable on all drives, e.g. normal USB-Sticks (Non U3), external hdds, etc.

But so does normal standalone WinRAR - I dont see the difference at all with Unplugged?

The normal WinRAR put all settings into the Windows Registry. Unplugged put the settings in in a file called 'winrar.rcf'!

So, Unplugged don't create any registry entries inside windows, its complete portable!

maybe.. the reason its working on your PC is because you have winrar installed? If it wasnt installed and was only copied to a USB thumb drive it might not work.. but i dont know 100%

hum i'm going to report this to the winrar team

they even use rarlab logo

the dns entries for this site and rarlab.com are totally different

edit:on rarlab.com, the sales email is sales@win-rar.com, which is the only win-rar.com email there...something strange is going on

Thanks mate I understand now - but then, I thought they would just replace the original WinRAR with the Unplugged branch, its win-win!
