Hello Guys,

In the last week or so I've been shifting my focus towards the Playstation 3, mainly because I've been a huge PS1 and PS2 fan and hope the Playstation 3 is gonna be just as great.

But in this last week, I've seen the hate Sony is facing ... It's incredible!

I mean - We keep going through the same ****, over and over again about Game Compatibility, the Price etc.
I posted on a Danish forum, telling where people could order it and get it by tommorow or saturday. I was being flamed, called a fanboy
and getting all those same "facts" thrown in my face.

It really seems like the hate towards Sony is huge - It's sad

I am not a fanboy of any kind of system but I prefer Playstation 3 over 360. I just think that is better in my opinion.

Granted Sony has made mistakes, said some strange/stupid things etc...but companies that are at the top always get hated, no matter what 'good' they've done for consumers or for the industry (the same happens with Microsoft and Windows).

At the end of the day i don't see why it's more complicated than just going out and buying whichever console you want.

alot of people will put down the ps3 just to go with the crowd.

i plan on getting a ps3 next hardware revision. not a 360. well unless maybe certain games go multi platform then its just cheaper. also cause of modchips....

i agree that the amount of hatred against the ps3 is sad.

i don't deny that sony has made a bunch of mistakes with decisions, pricing and whatnot, but it's the same arguments over and over...
- the price is too high
- there aren't any games
- there's no rumble
- they shouldn't have included a blu-ray player
- they're losing exclusives
- PR sucks
- kutaragi is insane
- sony sucks
- and so on

we've all heard them and they've been beaten into our brains by just about every single game news site and a majority of the people here. it's like kids nagging you to buy them something, they keep repeating and just won't stop.

in reference to the thread title, i think some would be afraid to admit that they have a ps3 in fear of people making judgments on their decision. well i own a ps3 and i block about pretty much all the negativity on these forums about it. fact of the matter is, a bunch of these people don't have a ps3 and don't see what i see in it. though i respect their opinions, i don't necessarily have to agree with them. they can talk bad about the ps3 all they want, but i'm happy with my purchase and that's all that matters to me.

by no means am i a sony fanboy or am i trying to attempt to defend them. i own a 360 and a wii and i love them both too. each system has its advantages and disadvantages. i guess i just don't understand why people have to put one console down when all 3 are improving the video game industry in general.

Im not rushing out to buy a PS3 but i'll get one eventually. All companies make mistakes at one point or another and Sony have made a few with the PS3 but that doesnt make it a bad console. I'm sure it will sale reasonably well over the next couple of months (perhaps not as well as the Wii has been doing but I think nintendo needed some love this time round) and as more and more games become available and developers get to grips with the machine then I think it will fare quite well in the long run. Wether or not it wins this round of the console war is another story all together.

Look back when xbox was getting spanked (along with every other console) by the PS2, people would always find some BS excuse to thrash sony and why xbox would be the better choice.

It's NeoWin not NeoSony, check the source of the ridicule.

As for other sites, ps3 is in baby stages, while 360 is into its sohpmore year, there is no comparison but people do anyways. You wonder who the real fanboys are.

At the end of the day the internet is a big assed discussion land, if you post about something on a Forum you will always get people who will argue against you. Weather it is PS3 Vs 360 or Apples Vs Oranges.
This fight has got so big because the companies involved have been pushing their consoles on a ours is bigger, better, faster and does this which yours doesn't front, rather than the our system is good because front.
This type of comparison breeds anger from the people who own the console that is being slammed, and feeds ammo to the console that is being bigged up.
It hasn't helped that the last few months have revealed that a lot of the comparisons made before launch and even after have proved to be untrue. This has turned a lot of Forum goers into haters. Sony I am looking at you. This has made the people who have spent a year being told that their console is nothing compared to this console, tear into the PS3 with avengance.
It's all good though buy what you want and have fun and remember in 3 years anyone who is a real gamer will probably have both. So don't bite when people bait you just save the link to throw at them when they turn round and admit they own the thing now.

Here we go again. First thing's first: all companies make mistakes or break promises. What's new? Sony just seems to be the spotlight this time around. In my opinion though, their approach now of "lets move forward and forget about 'the other guys'" seems to be the best route. We've all heard it over and over from each side.. they call it cocky, we call it confident. That aside: they've got what it takes, but the execution just needs a little work. I've gladly shown friends, family and others that I've got the console. It's actually been a very good showcase piece. People really take a liking to fl0w. MotorStorm and RFOM online are a must. Blu-ray blows them away. Sony is far from failing with the Playstation 3 (from a non-Neowin consensus standpoint) and they've got plenty more to offer. With as big as gaming is today, none of the three console giants will get close to failure any time soon. Other consoles have their "exclusive" featurettes, but don't forget about what we've got with this console also. The technology behind it really is amazing.. and to think how far we've come in just ten years. Hell, look back since the 80's! What it all boils down for me is.. I've played many hours on each console, loved many other games they offered, but the reason I bought the Playstation 3 is for it's actual potential. It's got a real offering in my eye. Call me a fanboy or crazy, but nothing denies the fact that it still gets a "Wow!" from those who I've given the controller to.

Unfortunately this is just the way things are on this forum (and many others out there). I remember making a thread when the PS3 launched on this forum, basically bringing intention to the insane hatred against Sony and the PS3 (and anyone who owns one). It was ridiculous and I couldn't believe how low some people would stoop (both on the Pro-PS3 and Pro-360 side), hell even personal attacks, and even more fanboy garbage came out of people. Many of them are still posting here today, but at least it isn't happening anymore to the same extent

But I do need to say something.. A lot of you think "Well this is Neowin so it's a Microsoft forum.", that may be true on the PC side, but I wouldn't really assume that. Back in November of 2005, when the 360 launched the same crap was going on, only it was "against" the 360 and Sony fanboys were behind it. I remember we used to get posts full of flooding, even one user who was an avid poster on this forum literally went nuts and spammed the site full of defaced images, sick comments full of swearing, racism, and all the worst crap you could imagine.

What am I trying to say by this? All fanboys suck, BIG TIME. I don't care if it's on the Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo sides. They all are ridiculous. I could say the same thing about politics, but at the same time we're talking about consoles.. Entertainment consoles, not politics that affect the lives of everyone in a nation (or even the world).

I also need to warn you. Similar to my thread back at the launch you're going to get some negative reaction to this. First, fanboys will attack this thread telling you how free speech/open forum means they can say whatever they want (which is very very true, but it's still their choice to act ridiculous rather then doing constructive arguments). You will also get Pro-Sony fanboys going on and on about how ridiculous those "negative" talkpoints against Sony are, and how great the PS3 and Sony are.

Man can't both sides just cut it out?

Sorry if I came accross as Sony baiting just trying to explain why this current console war seems to be becoming so violent.

I hope no one is influenced by Forums as humen beings we should make our own minds up based on the facts around us, but forums are about discussing your views, so expect to be contradicted if you go on them. I've seen people express things that are insane to me on forums, women shouldn't dress provocatively then be upset when they're raped being one example. At the end of the day though it's an opinion not worth getting het up about and if you do maybe forums aren't the place for you.

As for what I said before both Microsoft and Sony are feeding the fires when it comes to provoking they're players into trash talking the other console, and I think if they had both just focused on their own product rather than making comparisons we wouldn't have nearly so much hate going on at the moment. Sorry I am s**t at expressing myself.

I think you're right actually. The bashing has gotten worse because company PR tends to compare products way too much, at first the fans of that company will bash the other side because it looks favorable for them. Then if the company doesn't live up to to the comparison the other side bashes in response, partially because they didn't like being bashed before and partially just cause they're fanboys too.

I think there's also a lot of people mistaking honest criticism for bashing too though (again, no group is really innocent of this).

Definitely agree with you on that last point. The biggest perps in this whole fanboy war crap is the companies themselves. It wouldn't be nearly as insane as it is if they'd just stick to regular competition rather then mud-slinging eachother.
