woah. i'm liking that dock integration. man, if they can make windows rootless (like X, even though I'm sure the windowing system is different), that would be amazing!!!!! Still, I'm liking the prospects. I'll have to see how the speed improvment helps :)

there was lots of rumors of a 5.1 (not 5.01) update of vpc to come out around the same time as jaguar back in the summer, as a huge speed update, but that never happened, but it looks like they finally brought a sweet update :), but it will probably still be pretty laggy for most people (with anything lower than a dual ghz probably or any non ddr ram model mac...but im not sure), if i could get vpc to run win 98 or 2k as fast as it would on my pc (466mhz celeron with 192 megs of ram) i would be happy :D..now all i need to do is either get the computer store to add the damn extra ram or get the darn 2 screws to come off (ya im using the right screw driver :p)...

but hopefully v6 is a great update

Oh yeah, one more thing. How the *bleep* did they do the dock start menu!!!!! I know adding images to a menu is possible in the dock (but through a closed API), but how the crap did they do that??!?!?!!

That speed increase is only for Macs that have "Mac OS X - version 10.2.3 (Jaguar), L3 cache, NVIDIA Ge Force or ATI Radeon video card."

That leaves my G4 400mhz and me in the dust. :(

I've got a G3 500Mhz iBook with 384MB of RAM running OS 10.1.5, I've tried running Win98 on VPC5 but its so slow I can barely do anything with it, what could I do to make it faster? Would an upgrade to 10.2, VPC6, or Win2000 help? Just trying to figure out how to squeeze all the speed I can out of this thing.

the upgrade to 10.2.3 and VPC6 will according to Connectix improve performance by 25%. It's up to you whether to believe that or not. Also, Windows 2000 runs better in VPC then Win98, give that a try before upgrading your OS.
