Advantages and disadvantages of GSM and CDMA

Recommended Posts

Yeah, those are really the only two good things about GSM vs CDMA. Otherwise CDMA rules all, in signal quality, voice quality, speed, etc. It's a shame that GSM is used so widely.

Oh, and GSM gets all the cool phones, or at least it seems most of the time. Luckily that seems to be turning around now, with Samsung getting in the act with its slider phones and others.

CDMA=faster download speeds, best privacy (spread spectrum), hardest to crack (the AIR INTERFACE)- that doesn't mean they can't record your conversations on a CDMA phone- it's just harder for the casual person to do.

UMTS=the world doesn't want to use what USA wants to use, so they tweak it and make a 'new' standard... but borrow heavily on the USA and accuse us of not following standards.

You all don't get it- most people I come across prefer our wireless systems.

But everyone is so caught up in the globalization that people aren't listening.

thank you guys

with "clone" I talk about when somebody hack a phone to use an other numer, so the cloned phone use the line(numer) of an other user to talk for free. I dont know if is possible now, but some years ago it was possible. I was asking because I read it in wikipedia(spanish version) and I dont know if is true.
