Two most important updates for Vista

I have the same problem after install this hotfixes.

- Problems with Move files/folders (doesn't work)

- Problems with Rename files/folders (doesn't work)

let me guess, you have UAC turned off right? Well can't elevate permissions without UAC.

Always I have UAC disable. Only after apply KB938979 hotfix explorer have this issues. (from the file browser of WinRAR i can rename files/folder without problems)

Attention, on of these new beta patches, can create issues with renaming folders if you are using a vLited version of Vista!!

I just did a fresh instal of Vista when I found this... :(

Now gota wait for a fix...

For those complaining about having problems with these patches...well, it's your own fault for installing a non-officially released update :rolleyes:

the problems the patch fixes are pretty big so people are desperate to get the fix

Lol now im with a fresh instal of Vista and i cant create folders until a fix comes up... :D

Found the issue, I can't believe that this was causing the issue. Certain reg entries must not be cleaned in the

'HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\FolderDescriptions'.

Components which have this problem are:

Game Explorer

Printer Support

Sidebar

Media Samples

Windows Search

Sync Center

You can remove all other and the KB938979 will work just fine.

Fixed in the next version.

Imagine how stupid this was, now gotta leave those entries there, good thing is that they don't matter once the component is removed, it was more of a cosmetic cleanup.

The fix on the running machine probably would be to uninstall that hotfix, fill in all the default values in that reg key and reinstall the hotfix.

i didn't think they were beta, just unofficial...

but either way i just installed them and everything seems to be fine...

14 august then i can wait, after i migrate to vista everything seems slower and i have a capable laptop to run vista, i have 2gb of ram a good standalone videocard i dont know why everything its so slow from file sharing to copy a single file to another place
